Welcome to Hatfield College. We are the second oldest College in Durham. Located between the world heritage site of the Norman Cathedral on the banks of the River Wear, situated on one of the oldest streets in Durham – we are minutes away from the centre of Durham and other University buildings. But it is not the location that makes Hatfield so special. Throughout the University the “Hatfield Spirit” is renowned.
Conferences
We very much hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you to Durham and to Hatfield; to a City which has developed into a national tourist and conference centre and to a College which has played a full part in this development. No member of staff can live and work in the University without being conscious of their heritage of academic history and cultural life. No student can spend three years in Durham without becoming infected with the spirit of the place. And no visitor can come to Durham and to Hatfield without being impressed by the happy blend of old and new which is to be found both in the City and the College.
Location
Hatfield College is situated in the heart of the City, in the shadow of the great Norman Cathedral, and on the banks of the River Wear. It is a few hundred yards from all the facilities and amenties that Durham has to offer. We can offer accommodation ranging from 2-diamond rated single standard and en-suite rooms to 4-diamond rated executive bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Limited car parking is available free of charge on site.
Catering/Fine Dining
The College’s Georgian Dining Room is available to conferences and groups of up to 250.
Meals are available in buffet, servery or family style service and special diets can be catered for.
The College has its own extensive cellars offering a good selection of wine and vintage port.
For smaller, private parties, the Senior Common Room Dining Room (seen by many as one of the best rooms in the University) seats up to 22 guests in elegant surroundings.
